How we're paid

Watt Math earns a commission when a reader switches electricity plans through one of our outbound links. That is our only source of revenue.

What that means in practice

Links on this site marked as going to a comparison or enrollment partner are affiliate links. If you click one and go on to sign up for a plan, we may be paid a fee by that partner. You pay nothing extra; the fee comes out of the partner's own margin.

What it does not change

It does not change the numbers. Every rate we publish is computed from the retailer's own Electricity Facts Label and the delivery charges published by the Public Utility Commission of Texas. We do not accept payment to rank a plan higher, and no retailer sees this analysis before it is published.

Where the cheapest plan for you is not available through a partner we're paid by, we still say so. The whole premise of this site is that the advertised number and the real number are different; we would not be worth reading if we made the same trade ourselves.
